Well, they looked blue when they were born, LOL. I agree, they look black, some of them have some gray/blue underneath. Do you think they're all going to be black?
Kathy, look at post 183, they were all born that color, then got darker

I agree with you, post 183 looks blue! Hey, I was having a tough time figuring the color on those Orps I just hatched, too! BUT, in the end, I ended up with one of each color ..... so now I can figure it out!

Does anyone know how to keep your Jersey Giants a bit quieter? We have 2 nine month olds (among several other breeds) and they are the loudest and most agressive towards humans and the other hens. They are extremely loud every morning for several hours. I'm actually thinking about rehoming my 2 because they are causing quite the disruption in the home and the flock.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

As they get older, they get less bold and less noisy. I love mine. I love it when I hear any of my hens announce her egg. But hens should be real easy to rehome if that's what you have to do.

I don't have eggs yet from them (splash over splash), but I do have splashes. Right now I just have a 2 blue roos with all the girls (blue, black, splash), that are laying. I have 1 splash hen laying.

Maybe Wynette does? I know she has Jethro, but he is blue.

Can't you make them lay?

Really they (Hall line) are 23 weeks old (4 splash). I have 12 of that line. I have total of 5 splash, and 1 of them is laying. That is the one I recently bought (Sand Hills line), and is still in quarantine with the others that came with her!

The ones I hatched of Wynette's are now 14 - 15 weeks old. I didn't get a splash from those. I got blues and black. 5, I think.
