Hatching eggs are no longer avaiable from any breeds until further notice due to predator problems and birds being too old .

Thank you...Yeah, Java thread.  I have a pair of Black Javas and some mottled in the bator.

Java and Buckeyes are my main breeds.  I also have a RIR quad,  Bantam Araucanas and two lonely Silver Sebrights hens.  2012 will be a big production year, and it's been three years in the making.

Can you please elaoborate on what you do in Dry Incubation, I've heard of people doing it and I've had times when the humidity gets low in the bator and for some reason the chicks seemed to be healthier and more active, but some get stuck in their shells from the drying membrane, actually thats what happened with these Javas I just hatched, I was gone for a whole day, overnight, and most of the next day while they were hatching and when I got back the fertility was low but all the chicks that hatched ( 6 out or 10 shipped eggs), whe chicks were up and active and doing great, but there was one that had started pipping and the membrane dried and trapped it in and I had to help it out, but it ended up dying.

So how are you doing it? Please post your results too.

AND GOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDD  LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have personally raised Black, White, and Mottled Javas; although I never bred the Mottled birds as I could never get a rooster to live.  They always died of some freak accident as chicks.  The Whites and Blacks were gorgeous.  I wish I could remember who I got the eggs from.  I *think* that a few pics of mine are on Feathersite although Barry might not have been interested in them.  I can't remember.  The Mottled birds came from Ideal and were very nice for hatchery stock.  I would love to get my hands on some Auburns eventually.  And when I have the space I plan on re-developing the Blue variety Garfield Farms has been working on by crossing the Javas to Mariah Hall's Blue Giants.  Another side project might be developing a Mottled Giant or creating Blue Mottled Javas.  Might even try for Lavender.

The last link should have tons of links to websites I have found on Javas.

Thank you ChicknDaddy!  unfortunately I lost my whole hatch over the weekend due to the blizzard and being without power for 22 hours.  Oh, well, the year is young! smile
