I think my 2 girls are going to be ok. My partridge is eating and drinking on her own and there has not been anymore bloody poop. Gave them some tuna and eggs for lunch and they loved the tuna!
Also checked on the 2 eggs I slipped under the broody this am when she jumped off to eat and poop. 1 egg looked like it might have began to hatch but was flattened. She must have stepped on it. The other co parent broody, saw it and picked it up and took it out of the nesting box. I just went out to make sure she was back on the remaining egg and I heard her making some soft noises, then I heard a peep. I have 2 that hatched in the bator. Now what should I do? If I put them outside under the broody, should I buy medicated feed so they don't end up with Cocci? Is it ok for my broody to eat?
Edited Sunday morning
I thought I heard peeps yesterday under the broody, and since it was only 1 egg under her, I didn't want the chick to be alone. So I slipped another chick under her last nite. Well after I fixed up there new little spot and went and moved them, I discovered the egg did not hatch. SO, I am going to try to slip the other 3 under her tonight. I bought medicated feed, so I don't end up with Cocci again. Has anyone else used the medicated feed?
I also believe I know what caused the Cocci in my other young chicks. Every night I sweep up the patio and then spray it all down with the hose. I was creating the perfect conditions for the Cocci by keeping everything moist. The shingles are going on the roof of the new coop today and hopefully they will be moved in by the weekend.
