Looky what I got! Fabulous foam for shipping eggs!-Angie! Need more!!!

I received my shipment of beautiful eggs today. PO called me at 8:30 AM to let me know they were in. The were packed GREAT, not one crack anywhere. And now I have the eggs sitting up for the air to develop before I put them in the incubator.

The "Tracking" info sucked but that is the PO problem.
I will be receiving more eggs from another shipper and I will see how they are packed and if there are any hatch rate differences.

the lady at the PO said that seeing the words "Live Embryos" really got her attention when they were sorting through the mail. It stopped her from just tossing it over into the delivery bin. There are many things that can be title "Live Embryo", around her most people think of something to do the AI for cattle, horses or pigs or eggs. So in this kind of country setting it works great.
Thanks ChooksChick. Now I can wait to watch them develop and hatch.

I had a great hatch rate with the eggs that Renee sent last December...

I then reused the foam to send eggs to CA and I was told that they arrived in great condition.

I've got to buy some more of these before next spring.

I can say I honestly have had WAY better luck with eggs packed with the bubble wrap and packing peanuts method. I had 3 batches of eggs come packed in foam all from different people and my goodness were they ever scrambled! It seems like the contents of the egg absorbs all the shock from the trip instead of the packing. The two eggs that did hatch from the one batch are the strangest BLRW I have ever owned; I blame it on the USPS and the rough trip. Foam is DEFINITELY easier and MUCH LESS messy to deal with!!!! IMO for a better hatch rate I would much rather have the eggs not packed in foam.

So how was your hatch rate?

Your eggs came scrambled and you blame the USPS and not the seller??
The strangest BLRW you have ever owned probably means the seller has birds with genetic defects.

BTW, the USPS and no I do not work for the USPS, has been forced by congress to out source most if not all shipping to FedEx and other companies.
Once a package leaves the local PO it gets another tracking number from the carrier actually carrying your package. So if you want more accurate tracking go to FedEx, no I don't work for FedEx, not the USPS.

My other hobby is betta Splendens (Siamese fighting fish), when my club hosts a show we receive 250 - 350 fish in individual bags with 3-4 ounces of water, sound like an egg?, via USPS and all arrive safely. Then we return the fish the same way unless they are auction fish.

So not to belabor this, so do not take offense but I suggest you go back to the person who sold you eggs and ask them to re-ship using foam.

Quote: The eggs were shipped using FOAM; that was my point. I received pheasant eggs once in foam and once in bubble wrap(per my request) and the bubble wrapped eggs hatched twice as many chicks. The seller, bless them, was nice enough to send a second batch after I sent them pictures of how the eggs candled after their arrival with the foam. To save my time I would use foam without a second thought.

Hi,
I was just wondering where you bought these egg shipping foams from? I would like to purchase some too if they aren't crazy expensive.
Thanks,
carrie
