That's a very nice set up Nono!

Thank you so much Donna. :) I just got an email 15 minutes ago from the BYC project manager saying they were featuring my coop on the home page this week (the Schoop.) It's really a full circle because it was Trish (TheSpoiledChicken) that led me to the company that we used...after reading this thread about the sweet PDZ, and seeing her own coop. What a hoot! My face hurts from smiling so much!

Congrats! I can't wait to see the feature on your coop! Good for you!

Nanette,

What a beautiful coop....I mean Schoop! I loved the story of your building it and how you and your DH have had "discussions" over coop & run features. (We have, too! LOL)

My coop is much smaller and like you, a bunch of ideas via research from BYC and other chicken blogs. It's an "A" frame but I only have three girls. I'm loving my chicken keeping and all the adventures!

Congrats on a beautiful coop and being featured!

Donna

What a lovely coop. The only thing I would want different would be that I like my roosts all at the same level to discourage pecking order disputes over where eveyone's going to spend the night.

Thank you for your kind works. I'm changing mine to one long perch that will span the width of the coop within the couple of weeks. Now that they are bigger, they still all try to squeeze on the top perch, but only 6 can fit up there...so three take "second banana position" below. I'm going to mount the poop board underneath it, and totally remove the ladder perch and original "floor" poop board. It will also free up some additional floor space for them. I agree with you in that I think if I don't offer one long perch, it will eventually lead to some arguments and squabbles. :)

That's so good, nono. BeeKissed is a season chickeneer in the BYC forum and an educator. She also suggests added "levels" in the coop to create more interest and more space for the birds. I am considering monkeying around with this idea. Lower perches for chicks...."places to go". I would love to see what she means with pictures.

I'm new to this website and this idea is the best I have seen as far as how to deal with poop in the roosting area. I'm building my coop and almsot have the foundation done I will post pics of my progress soon!
