Ratio of male to female

Hi all,

Can anyone please advise me what is a good ratio of male to female ducks. I seem to have 1 poor female who is constantly being picked on for mating even though there are others in the pen. At the moment I have 3 males and 5 females who get on very well apart from this 1 problem.

I heard you should have 4-5 females for every one drake. We have 4 ducks and 2 drakes and this past spring was tough. We had to break up a lot of fights between the drakes.

Funny enough we have not had any problems with the drakes. There is obviously the ring leader, who has a great personality and the others just seem to follow. I just really feel sorry for the poor female who is getting all the attention. I think we need to buy some more females to even things up a bit.
