New Opportunities for Gamefowl

I am not excluding use of dummies for measures accuracy, power and endurance. Such must be included. To attract a broader audience which is needed for such to persist, then other activities likely need be included. If you go to extreme of combat measures only, you position yourself in the beginning for conflict with the anti-gamefowl parties. Soften up approach to keep them off balance.

Some of what has enabled Bankivoids to persist in the walk breeding system which dominated until farmers got out of games is the ability of the birds to survive. Some of that is based on capacity for flight and other physical abilities not directly related to fighting. You leave flight out of equation and selection pressures will transform American Games into something like OG's which is not productive.

They make exercise wheels for gamefowl, how about one or maybe even two of those with a barrier between, and make it a test of endurance. A lot comes down to endurance.

The dummy is a good idea. If it was a hawk dummy with the right colors and features, I think it would satisfy all requirements.

The option of choice for bird to perform may need to be allowed. Also choice with respect to performance level. Counting the number of revolutions a bird puts on exercise wheel would be a measure easily quantified. Resistance may need to be adjusted for bird weight in manner of handicap.

What about boxing with gloves to protect the bird, have rules and award points for different hits or moves. Its borderline what it use to be before though (hope i dint offend anyone or break the forum rules for saying this). In other countries they do it this way since they dont like seeing the birds that they spent so much time and money raising die in the ring. This is probably the best way to show how they perform. I wonder how people would react since its still combat.

The gloves/mitts are illegal. They are seen as cockfighting paraphernalia (sp?). Anyways I have some suggestions... Why not put the dummy on a swivel like thing and let the bird hit it, that way it would spin like a tetherball. Then the bird that spun it the most would be the winner. It would be a power test not unlike the tugging. Also @JShubin you could try to put the harnesses on the birds and then after they got use to it put them on the ropes. Also for Americans you could do a vertical challenge, like a jump that basketball players do. Take said dummy and let bird run at it then snatch it up quickly and said cock bird should, theoretically speaking, follow in an attempt to meet in the air.

Hello fellow Californian, I live in Norco, not to far from you...

I really like this idea too, but I think you could still get in legal trouble doing it this way. Which is a shame because humans do it for fun, exercise, self defense and the good ones do it profesionally. I guess the difference is that humans can willingly consent.

There was even a guy (in the phillipines I think) who came up with an electronic glove that would tally points for each successful hit. and it made a specific noise for each bird when a point was scored... I will try to find link.

Also another flight would be to have a hen that did the alarm call and see how long it took each cock to fly up to her. Like maybe have her on a shelf where he can't see her and get her to holler.
