hello! I haven't had much time to get on here, but when I do I only usually go on a few threads :) BUT I'm back! :p
I can't remember if I told you or not (it's been so long!) I got 12 Barred Rock chicks for Easter! (one turned out to be a rooster though) :( I named him Wings and he's really nice right now :)
I also named one Domino and I'm still naming the rest!

That's ok! I guess this thread had been kind quiet for a while anyway. 12 new chicks!!!!!! That would be so much fun!! I wish I could get more chicks! I also have a BR named Domino, and Wings the rooster sounds really nice.:) Will you be able to keep him?

I agree the BR roos are very pretty. I would assume that you will have BR chicks hatch by the broody hens once in a while. That would be so cute to see the mom and chickies.

Hi,still have my 3br. may not for much longer, one is top hen and is a total witch. she pulls feathers from every other chicken who gets near. and now my giants have started doing it as well. I have been spraying them for pecking and using the no peck wound stuff but still they won't stop. My EEs are not doing it and most have their feathers but I need to decide soon since I don't want my new chicks being picked bald.

my problem is six pecking hens not just one. there is no way I can just move out one. no room to go with her. I hope that I might be able to swap my youngsters to the coop and put my three top pecking misfits into that pen. I don't think it will help much but I shall see. I really am worried the 3 will kill bantys or maim some of my 8.5 week olds.

Little concerned here; I've got 3 Plymouth Barred Rocks and 1 Black Austraplorp which are all 9 months old. Two months ago I integrated 3 new pullets (14 weeks) . They get along great, no problems up until a week ago. I noticed that my 3 Barred Rocks no longer get on the roosting bar unless I manually put them there. They will stay there until morning. Otherwise they just stay on the floor next to the door opening. Should I be concerned or just let it go?
