Well, my husband got too attached to the 3 gray/toulouse geese to butcher them, sooooo, What do they need in terms of housing and feed for the winter? They have had kiddie pools and a lot of grass all summer. Fed them pellets and corn on the assumption of Christmas dinner, lol. They live in a large fenced area with a small house with an enclosed area for sleeping and a screened area for feed and water. Pretty friendly critters, lol!

As long as they have secure housing to get into they should be fine. If you live where it gets very cold a nice layer of shaving for them to snuggle into at night and if they so choose to do in the day if weather turns bad. My geese have access to their house during the daytime in all season s but choose to stay outside even on coldest days. But never at night because of predators. I feed timothy hay and grains like Flock raiser and whole corn. They do have a way of changing from dinner to pets pretty easy. Housing needs good ventilation to keep humidity from rising with those warm bodies and also keeps ammonia from building up inside their house. and forgot to mention how nice heated buckets are on days below freezing. TSC carries them.

Thanks
We have a heated bucket that the ducks used to have. That should suit them. I will have to find a bale or 2 of hay for them besides their pellets and corn I guess. Do they need greens like lettuce or kale during the winter?

I do buy kale chopped and romaine lettuce for my geese and also hang heads of cabbage for them maybe a couple times a week. but they like soft grasses like timothy, I understand they don't care for alfalfa hay. They love the cabbage when hung up it's fun to watch them go at it.
