I have a sick silkie chick and I'm hoping someone can help me determine the best treatment.

I purchased 6 black silkie's from a small time breeder 3 weeks ago. They were ages 5 weeks, 4 weeks, 2 weeks, and 3 just hatched. The first one died while still with her, and she said in got caught in the bars overnight(just hatched chick). The second one died at a week old, and we noticed a small amount of bloody stool, so I began treating with Corid(again one of the youngest). Now my 16 yr old daughter, who cares for the chicks misunderstood me( I told her to treat for 3 days) and they have been on the Corid for 10 days. Yesterday the last of the young chicks seemed to loose control of it's legs. This morning it seems paralized all over. Upon questioning my daughter, I realized that she still had them on the Corid so we've removed that and added Rooster Booster to the water.

What else can I do to help this little one.

I'm also scared that this may be Mareks and could infect my flock of layers. We had already decided to keep these silkies in coop at the other side of our property. But our layers got out yesterday and were scratching around in the litter we had just cleaned out of the brooder. Shoudl I be concerned about Mareks?

Rooster Booster is a brand name--did you mean that you put them on vitamins? They need vitamins and probiotics now--very important. Rooster booster has the Vitamins with Lactobacillus--is that what you have? That contains vitamins, electrolytes, and probiotics, all good for your paralyzed chick. I doubt if it is Mareks at a couple of weeks old, but it could be a vitamin deficiency. Hopefully, this will help her, but you will need to feed her the vitamins, B1, B2, and E are very important, plus feed her a little egg daily for selenium. If you have PolyVisol without iron, I would give this chick 3 drops a day orally for a week, just to boost her. Other diseases can affect the legs. Coccidiosis is very common when multi-age chicks are kept together.

Well, we lost the little one. : (

Yes, we have the others on the Rooster Booster vitamin, electrolite, and probiotic suppliment. I'll give them a little egg daily. What's the best way to prepare it for them? hard boiled or scrambled? And I'll start the polyvisol too. Thanks for the help.

And ideas as to what might have caused it?

Sorry for your loss. Did the others get better? I prefer scrambled egg for the ease in preparation, but boiled, scrambled or raw will all do the job and appeal to chickens. I sometime use raw egg combined with a little buttermilk mixed well and dribbled over cubes of bread, which is well received.

Yes, the remaining three are dong well. BUt they were several weeks old when we got them, so they had a head start.
