It can only word for soft skinned bugs. fly larvae but not flies. Snails and slugs outside but not if it is wet. It has very limited uses for bugs. For example, it cannot kill mites because they are hard skinned. It might kill might larvae but those are hidden deep in cracks where DE cannot go.

Just to add, the examples above are fairly logical but many will still insist that DE is a great all purpose bug killer LOL

So the bugs don't eat it then die? That's what i heard

Why would they eat it? It is not food.

Like was posted, it cuts the skin and dehydrates the bug.

@KDOGG331 The bugs eating DE was not for you but those that told you they ate it and died. People come up with the oddest ideas

It's okay, i knew what you meant.

They really do lol

And I'm not sure. I might have read it wrong honestly. It might not have been eating. But i swore it said it killed mites or prevented them but now I think it was cap that said it doesnt kill hard shelled bugs? I think i read they walk through it drying them out.

I also read that it is bad to use in deep litter runs/the compost in the run type things because it kills all the bugs and destroys the microenvironment which defeats the purpose.

Years ago I read of people ingesting DE, and thought what the?? And also neem oil.
Duh?

Yeah, I read that too, never heard of eating neem oil though. But I believed the DE thing at the time until I got told/realized it doesn't work when wet lol

I read it cleans out your intestines and is good because it is sharp and can actually like scrape them/get stuff off other ways can't. Like getting all the gunk off your intestine walls. Sounded really promising but how does it work when it's wet? Lol

Kinda wanna try it though

Studies have shown benefits of flax powder doing what you describe. Flax powder does a lot of very good things for us and it does not hurt your lungs if you breath it.

two tablespoons in a glass of water once a day. You can get it at walmart neighborhood and super stores too
