My grandma was 93 and she was always very active and sharp as a tack. Still drove and she went to a club similar to a more expensive version of the Y lol and swam and took water arobics and classes like that and she went to the senior center and played bridge or mahjong, volunteered at an art center near us, went shopping or to the movies they have at places sometimes, walked around her neighborhood every day with her walker. Did a crossword puzzle every morning. Loved playing Scrabble and reading.

Anyways, always very very sharp and VERY independent and active. Go go go type.

Sadly started going a bit towards the end. Diagnosed with colon cancer in March and stayed at home a while then went to a nursing home. First one she hated. So we busted her out ha second one she liked a lot better, they were very nice and friendly. The first one everyone was kinda half dead type place. Depressing. This one was more cheery and nice roommate. Anyway, she passed September 2015. I think she had only been in the nursing home like a month though but it coulda been two, idk.

But it was sad because she had lived right on a gorgeous marsh and river too and loved feeding the birds and had a wonderful garden. Of course, she had landscaper by then, but it was still pretty and she loved being outside. So I think being indoors was hard.

But anyway, she had elected not to do any treatment given her age, which was understandable, she had a great life, but it was sad, and somewhat hard, watching her go from knowing how sharp and independent she had been.

Of course, a lot of that was probably just the morphine but still.
