BYC Café

Sunny and windy. We had about 4 inches of snow overnight so the wind is having fun.
It may be Monday before we can make it home, who knows. They are still saying feet.
Sour, I hope the Princess recovers quickly!
I have to get a covid test for DS$. The powers in charge decided last minute to make this decree so really hoping the test is not a complete failure. They could have done better with this... more stress if nothing else!

Good morning, cafe. Thanks for the coffee, DL. Sorry you don't get to enjoy the nice day.

A whopping 8°f (-13°c) this morning! Brrski. Had 6" of snow when I got up yesterday morning, but quite a bit melted off. I was happy to see dry roads when I headed home. Headed for 50's this weekend and another storm next week. And the time change...ugh.

But it was pretty yesterday:

Happy Wednesday to you all.
You can't run mining equipment in that weather!

Took me a minute to figure out what you meant. Excavation equipment :) It has been used for mining, though!

Fun fact: A number of years ago when we were mining for sapphires, we had a camera crew following us around to do a show based on us and the other miners in the area. The whole pilot and everything was done and then an Asian company bought out AMC (?) and killed it. It was Gold Rush with sapphires, basically.

Thank G it never came to fruition. Those shows are absurd. But it was an interesting time, anyway!

I watched a series on Discovery channel about Australian Opal hunters. It was very entertaining.

I always like to see what they find. Gobs of gold, that'd be so fun. We used to gold pan a lot when we were kids. Pa still wants to find a placer claim to buy one of these days.

A dredge went through our property many moons ago and they found big nuggets. My husband screened all the rock left behind a couple of years ago and used or sold it. One of the neighbors had a picture of the dredge at our place. It's pretty neat!

You might still have gold under the tailings pile!
