Chicken math

Gah! Chicken math just struck. I went to the feed store for feed and they had chicks and I didn't even look at them until after I paid so I wouldn't be tempted. Good job, right? Got back to work and had an email from Ideal about their weekly specials and ordered 25 Old English Game Bantams. Now, this wouldn't be so bad but I already have an order of 42 coming next week from Cackle, plus 19 in the incubator due to hatch.

BUT THEY'LL ALL BE SO CUTE!!!!!!!

Oh in so jealous of all those OEGB send some my way. ;)

Assuming my understanding of chicken math is correct none of those chicks count until they're laying or at least sexable and the cockerals never count lol. Now if only the cockerals also didn't eat we could all keep a lot more chickens lol

Hoarder!!! Ha ha ha

No judging here this thread should after all be called chicken hoarders anonymous lol.

My name is chickendreams and I'm a chicken hoarder.... Okay maybe not hoarder level yet BC we still take good care of all of our birds but some days I wonder lol. Also the flock and cats and dogs would of course eat first BC after all the flock can feed us lol

I got (blank blank) layers, wife doesn't even know how many in total unless she is in denial. I have 13 chicks in garage brooder that needs to come out there since she's complaining about the dust on her car

. 4 hatcheries catalogs just showed up in my mail tempting me. A friend bought a $500 dollar Brinsea hatcher and hatched 17 out of 17 dew days ago. I am hooked

, the chemicals in my brain need to be extracted to get me back to sanity. It all started from hearing some chirping while I was in a store. And and I must have a couple of those Salmon Faverolles!!!! And the local store told me they're having 4 deliveries of 600 chicks

I'm in trouble too; TSC was setting up their chick brooders last weekend. I DID NOT ask when chicks were going to arrive, but must get feed there tomorrow. Can I resist for the next xxx weeks? We'll see, but doubtful. Mary

Now we just need t-shirts!

Perhaps chips for those that are able to resist the springtime chick-a-palooza?

Lol
Lol you do have it bad lol okay fess up what's the actual number of layers?

Lol I can't talk I don't have an exact count on our layers right now. I used to think the byvera that said that were a little nuts but it's true.

First I'm not sure if every hen/pullet is laying, then we sold a bunch of birds and lost several in January to a predator. I know we have 19 spare cockerals that are ready or almost ready to go to freezer camp, that will be a huge subtraction. Then we have several more to wean out of the main flock 3-5 more. So that will wipe out a lot of mouths to feed. But we also have a group of juveniles that are being grown out. ...

Oh boy I need to grab a sheet of paper and make a list lol but I believe our total not including those chicks yet will be right around 40 birds when the spare boys go to camp. Most of which will hopefully happen this weekend.

hardened like stone tablet. My coop can handle max of 40 layers and the run can handle 50++, but I rather keep it down to 30+ max while I do my strategies to have consistent 8-9 dozens of eggs per week.

SOS

I just found out my work might be getting chicks this week. I didn't build up the willpower to say no to the new baby fluffs. They might be at work as soon as tomorrow already. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? HOW WILL I SAY NO?
