I've got bobwhites in the incubator and figured there would be some type of license required. 27$ a year for a type 2. No problem. What took me by surprise, and prompted a lengthy letter to my Congressional representative is that this license is required by anyone who raises ANY TYPE of turkey or duck. Its ridiculous. As I pointed out to him. What would have been your parents or grandparents response to a game warden coming on their property, pointing at the farm yard birds and telling them they had to have a license for the dinner running around in the yard.

wow crazy... I thought TX was better than that about farming
one 50# bag of organic grower from the co op for me LOL which beats $37 for a 35lb bag at the big box farm stores .. IL is expensive though.. and has some really stupid rules.

IL is home to Chicago, isn't it? I hear many stories about that place. And the wierd laws coming from there. Montana is a pretty easy place to get along in.

yep I am a county over, but they are too citified also. State passed a law about keeping dogs outside w/- shelter.. guy had a heavy coated dog w/a dog house and got in trouble.. not sure what adequate shelter is in this stupid state
Town I live next to used to be a farming town, people from chicago moved in and want it to be like where they came from... complaining about gunshots during hunting season, farm equip going slow, terrified about the wildlife.. doesn't allow chickens even hens .. way different from when I grew up and during hunting season kids brought the guns to school to hunt on the way home LOL

Isn't it funny how big city folks like to move in and gentrify us back woods folks? Like we need edumacating in the ways of the new modern era. Here, we get fleeing Californians, but they bring it with them. Why escape if you try to change what you fled to into where you escaped from?
