Hey everyone..... I have some questions for you all...

1. How old do the babies have to be before they can go outside?? ( we had 10 that were approx. 1 1/2 months old.... they had tons of their feathers so we put them outside in their pen... yesterday it rained all day.... we went to make sure they were in their house and found 6 dead :'( ..... made sure the other 4 were ok ( they were ) this morning we went to let them out and 3 more were dead :'( now we have one left.

2. How big does their house have to be??

3. When raising pheasants how many should we keep together??

4. Where can I get more Ring neck Pheasants from ( they don't have to be fancy ) that don't cost and arm and a leg???

1.At 6 weeks old they should be fine to go outside as long as they have been brooded right. At 1 week old they should be at 95 degrees and drop 5 degrees each week until week 6.It also depends on your weather. If it's 70 degrees in the final week of brooding and your outside temp is in the 50s they may not do well.
Did they get wet from the rain?
Were they eating and drinking?
What were you feeding them?
Was their pen covered so they don't get wet?
Was there a drastic temp change in the time they were outside?
2.The size of their house depends on how many birds you plan to have.
3.Ringnecks are cannibals ,so 1 male to 10 hens will be best if pen is big enough.
4.What state are you in?I might be able to find someone near you that raises them.

Hey Tony K T they have/had a coop/pen with a large enclosure to run in... they did get wet from the rain.. they are/were eating and drinking perfectly fine... I figured they would go back inside their coop/pen when it was raining.....when it was raining yesterday it was unusually cold and still is today :/
we are unsure of what sex they were as they were still so young.... We live in Windsor NY....... thank you for responding!!!!

What were you feeding them? They should be fed a gamebird feed a crumble feed at that age.
John Cambell in Franklin,Thomas Perrin in South Wales,Gary Simpson in Norwich, and Steve Wratten in Hubbardsville, all list ringnecks.
