hi everyone! We’ve hatched 4 shipped eggs and two of our own. The four shipped eggs were a mixed selection of pure breed bantams and could use some help figuring out who is what.

1. Large and boisterous

Think it could be light Sussex?

2. Small and cheeky

Barred Plymouth Rock?

3. Had help hatching and very needy

Same as above? Seems unlikely but possible I guess.

4. Worryingly Sleepy

I think this is a white crested black polish? I’m a bit worried about it. Just sleeps all day and only gets up for food and water and as such is still wobbly on its feet. sits on haunches a lot when it’s out. Any ideas on how we can pep him/her up?

Also, bonus cross breeds from our mixed lavender and some other stuff red and black rooster and pure breed chamois polish.

They’re both extremely playful and very different looking given they’re brother/sisters. These are the parents (and their frizzle friend) enjoying the sun this week:

My mum hatched some from the same parents and got this ready-for-battle cock and hen combo:

Enjoy!

The Polish chick is right on. The others, not sure. The hatchery will have a list of bantam breeds and colors that they stock, so look at those to decide who you have. The mixed breed chicks will be cute, anyway.

Oh yeah - here’s the list in the eBay listing (excuse caps):
INCLUDING SERAMA'S / POLANDS / FRIZZLES / LIGHT SUSSEX / NEW HAMPSHIRE REDS / CUCKOO MARANS / JAPANESE BANTAMS / MINIATURE SILKIES / SEBRIGHTS / / NAKED NECKS / VARIOUS COLOURS IN PEKINS AND WYANDOTTES PLUS MANY MANY MORE.

2 weeks old now and much harder to photograph but here goes!

1. Still large and boisterous but not a patch on the cross breeds

Has a dark spot on the back of the head:

2. Small and cheeky - suspected rooster with a dark comb

3. Was sickly but now very fun. Similar to above but with light toes and a white/yellow comb

4. Our blessed white crested black polish. Now socially awkward but socialising and not sleepy 24/7

5 & 6 our random bantam roo with chamois polish - hyperactive, brave and very fast

Any ideas on the top 3 welcome!

possibly black japs?

Hey! That would be cool! It’s possible but they don’t seem to have downward wing position I see in Japanese bantams?

The big white one has an interesting sort of doubles comb structure:

But then one our polish crosses has a comb that goes normal for a bit then goes horizontally for the points?!

The black ones seem very similar. They both have very pronounced ears too.

Little white crested polish has completely recovered. After two weeks of weird it just went normal

interesting. White looks like a wyandotte. Glad the polish recovered.

Wyandotte! I think you might be right there.

Will have to wait and see on the other two. I do think they’re the same. Have grown quite leggy with big feet so ruling out japs I think!
