I purchased this barred rock as a pullet from a local farm store. It came from Hoover hatchery. I got it 4 weeks ago yesterday so it should be 4 weeks and a couple days old. These wattles are making me a little nervous.this is my only barred rock so I don’t have any other birds to compare. I can and do plan to keep a rooster or maybe 2 but I wanted any rooster to be either a blue or very dark brown egg breed. To support my overall goal of a colorful egg basket.

I second that. If it is a Barred Rock, the color is of a pullet. The roos are dark on light and girls are light on dark.
Yeah she is now 20 weeks old and although I’m still waiting for her to lay an egg she is clearly female. Attached are a couple recent pictures. Just what I had on my phone so not real close up but good enough to see comb, wattles, saddles, and single bar pattern.
