7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

When I hatch dark eggs, they do better at a lower humidity--30 to 35%.

It might be better for all of the hatch to split the differences, say 40 to 45% and the around 60% and lockdown.

It gets harder when hatching different breeds for sure.

This is from a Marans breeder:

I'm going to start my lockdown incubator today and put the one Marans egg in it without moisture see what happens

Mine will hatch on New Years Eve..supposed to. I may get a couple on NYD. Little silkie eggs. Sometimes they come early, and sometimes they come late.

I do the same thing with them every time.

You need to go hug a chicken too!

Do you have any Silkies?

No silkies. I did go and pet Oops, a big fluffybutt Brahma/BLRW cross.
My birds are a tad spoiled, I fear, or at the very least I definitely have a fair-weather group. It's chilly out (supposed to snow this afternoon) and I went out with breakfast snackies. Only five bothered to come out of the coop. The other four are -- what -- playing cards? Wonky birds.
