Happy Chooks, how's the eyelid coming?

I am assembling five more frames and need to know how to insert the plastic foundation. Do the snap-off pieces go at the top or bottom?

Hubby's Craigslist score this weekend - several deep boxes and frames (some salvageable, some not), a styrofoam hive, Dadant smoker, jacket/veil in need of washing, couple pairs of gloves, a few canning jars, and a plastic 2 deep frame hand crank extractor in very good condition for $100. Older gentleman's health has failed, hives died off a couple years ago and everything was just left. Wax moth invaded, couple mice nests. Going to sort through what to save and what to trash. Saved items are getting a bleach bath. Really happy with the extractor find and interested in comparing the styrofoam hive.

Has anyone built their own home et extractor and had any good luck with it? I'm looking to build one and was needing all the info I can get.
