Keeping it consistently too high will not allow the air sac to grow properly and the chicks could drown when they pip internally because there is too much fluid within the egg.

This will help you understand what is going on with your eggs and what humidity has to do with hatching.

Thank you,I've read the artice and found it brilliant,always best to keep humidity lower than higher,still trying to get it down,currently on 52% with majority of water taken out,so fingers crossed for day 7 candling

I'm pleased to report that humidity has come down to 45% today and it's staying steady,although the incubator alarm goes off if it drops under 45%

You can change the settings on the alarms to your preference. It's a matter of figuring out how.
