The reason they look so similar now is most strains have leghorn crossed into them. Generally they should start laying around 5 months. As they molt when they age, they'll loose a lot of the white and start to look like they are supposed to.

I love the Ancona. Mine are single combed. Their combs are so large that they lay over one eye like the kids are wearing their hair nowadays... I had to pull my three Roosters.... Ancona, Catalana, and Welsummer.... so I could get some peace while I plan on building two more coops. This breed is rare so I think it is GREAT that we are all breeding them and helping them to get popular again.

I love my birds.
