One of the chicks that hatched yesterday is having issues. I found it unconscious in the run with a bloody peck wound on its head. I put it on my chest under my shirt to give it comfort as it passed, but after about 10 minutes it started cheeping and was alert. I gave it back to Martha, but it still seems a bit confused. I fed it some scrambled eggs, hope it does better.

An adult attacked LC (Little Chick) again, but I segregated Martha and her babies from the main flock last night, and LC is doing better. I have been giving her scrambled eggs to eat, supplemented with a vitamin E & B electrolyte solution. I am encouraged.

Peeked in on the eggs in the old Sportsman this evening and we have chicks hatching!

I opened it only very briefly...but it was enough to see both chicks and empty shells of various colour English Orpingtons, BCM, at least two of the Lavender Ams and at least one Bresse.

I have 2 silkie eggs due April 26. It'll be my first time hatching eggs.

I have now 4 silkie bantam eggs here is a pic of the newest one.

Tossed 1 clear, 1 cracked and 5 quitters, so I have 17 Swedish Flower eggs still left, due to hatch April 30. I threw some Cream Legbar eggs in too, due to hatch May 6.

Today is day 12-13 for me. Out of the 8 eggs in the incubator 7 are going strong and all 4 under Bella and also growing well

Little Chick ("LC") is between her hatchmate (green leg anklet) and black chick.

You can see her scabbed-over head wound just to the right of her eye.

She did better today.
