August 2023 hatch-a-long

Pics
#1 set 8/28. 28 EO shipped eggs plus 2 Orpington from my flock.
#2 set 8/30. 29 Orpington from my flock plus 1 EO shipped that had a crack.

Air cells look quite good in shipped eggs. A bit small on the ones from my flock.

I removed 4 spoiled eggs from #1, none from #2.

A good amount of the shipped eggs developing, and 14 from my flock are developing too.

Hatch date 8/18 and 8/20.

I am super excited but also very nervous since this is my second attempt and the first one didn’t go well.

The babies are thriving!! 💗💗💗
All eating and drinking...
Flapping and running...
Barely any time spent under their heat cave....(They are, of course, indoors currently...move out at abt 2 wks..)

We have a window AC in the room running 68...but they are a good ways away from it...

It's so fun watching them be babies!!!

Now the bet is on for how many boys I will have

...🤔🤔
Hubby bet 5...I say 7 ...with no real reason at all...

Are you using the little weights as roosts?? What an awesome idea!

My Aug babies are all doing great! They are 11-12 days old and growing so fast. I need to get them to the outside brooder with the others but need a day I am home to watch them, but life has been crazy.

Remember that little straggler that hatched with the crooked neck? The neck straightened out some but is still a bit bent. It eats and drinks but doesn't come out to play with the rest. It sort of walks in a circle and hasn't grown at all since hatch. It is now 10 days old. The pics are from tonight with another CCL that hatched with it, so 11 days old.... I don't have it in me to cull it and it doesn't seem to be suffering but I can't put it out with the almost 4 week olds so that is part of why the others haven't gone out.... I didn't expect the chick to make it this far.
