I have 2 goslings both 1 month old June 22nd
Mal3 gosling is a african goose named will
Female gosling is a white chinese goose named grace
They r plumping up getting nice and fat
But the only feathers they have r on 5heir tail
I made a post the other day regarding them but only had one person comment and I need help and tips
I will post pics of them at 2weeks and pics I took yesterday of them...
I read a post on here called growth stages of goslings or something like that and it shows a 3 week old gosling with alot of feathers and mine only have few tail feathers and r 4 weeks old...it also said the goslings should start making baby honks by 3 weeks old and I haven't heard the first baby honk they still just peep and coo no honks

Is there something extra they need currently weather during day is 70s and higher at night it is 50s to 60s
They r outside full time in a coop it has a section that is heated with a lamp and a section without heat lamps so they can choose heat or nature to sleep in lol
I keep a kiddie pool filled for them to bathe and play in..they also have a waterer with niacin water in it plus they get brewers yeast mixed in their feed they r on a unmedicated chick starter, and 10 percent protien sweet feed as treats during the day...they also get grass and greens fresh every day with frozen peas

So I don't think they're lacking on anything but they seem to be significantly behind most goslings I've read about at their age
Also in their coop they have a run to get out in for sunlight and leg stretching and

I’ve never hear of 10% chick start but if it exists that’s much too low for waterfowl and chicks.

goslings need to be on a 20% protein feed, preferable a flock raiser and not chick start because chick start isnt just too low in niacin but many other vitamins also.

For feather comparison here’s a picture of two of mine at almost 4 weeks. 3 to 4 weeks is about average when some feathers are just starting to show.

No I was saying they get chick starter to eat but I give them 10 percent protien sweetfeed to eat as snacks during the day

I would get them on a 20% flock raiser feed and cut back on the treats. Sometimes they’ll fill up on snacks rather than filling up on their feed.
That makes sense I forgot to put it into the post but I also provide game bird feed daily bc it has like 30 pe4cent protien

If you can get 20% feed that would be best or you can mix the 30% game bird with the chick start.

30% feed I’ve given to sick and severely malnourished geese or occasionally on frigid nights. You can feed it to them for a short period of time but 30% long term is very unhealthy and they could end up with angel wing and obesity issues.
