She must get to stay on amusement value! We do the same thing. Temperament is my number one criteria. Then laying ability. I won't tolerate a mean rooster, and a hen that doesn't lay can't stay......... except Phyllis our Polish hen
I love the colours (whatever they´re called,), aren´t they curious!got some better pics today
Millie the Blue laced pullet
Annie the Splash Columbian buff (or whatever its called) pullet
Clarabelle the other splash Columbian buff
Emily the splash laced pullet
Thomas, he's the one I kept out of the 2 hatched in October
Front view of Thomas, what do you all think of him so far?
the little butt in the top pic of him is the runt pullet. she is so tiny next to him, may put her in with my silkies when I divide them up in a few months. the older girls hatched early last summer and are 5.5-6lbs now, so they still have some growing to do.they are teasing me with those little red faces......hurry up and lay already, lolI love the colours (whatever they´re called,), aren´t they curious!and as regards Thomas, time will tell. He looks to be an inquisitive little fellow.
I had read that too and if memory serves it is because of the added "butt fluff" Cochins are said to have the same issue. But, like I said I may not be remembering correctly.I read once that Brahma roosters can breed less hens than normal. I'm not sure why, but I recall reading it. So the ratio to hens is lower I guess.

What? A fluffy chastity belt?!I had read that too and if memory serves it is because of the added "butt fluff" Cochins are said to have the same issue. But, like I said I may not be remembering correctly.
Those with that extra personality earn their keep! That is exactly why! She is a grumpy, bossy, little bird that makes us laugh every day
