Bad Experience with Bresse Farms in Pontotoc, MS

I just dealt with this company and was very unhappy with the experience I received. I bought the dozen fertile bresse eggs and received 13 instead of the dozen, so far so good. Using the nurture right 360 incubator was up and running days before I received the chicks safely thru the mail along with 4 Guinea hen eggs I had from my own birds. 21 days go by and no pippin so I wait it out to 28 days. The baby keets hatched but not one of the 13 bresse eggs hatched! I called to report and was informed if I buy chicks they will give me 5 free chicks?? I reply, there’s a reason I purchased fertile eggs… I have a great incubator that I’ve had nothing but success with and I am also on a fixed budget due to being disabled. He gave me the run around how they do not guarantee eggs and their hatching but he has 90 percent success at his farm but through the mail it drops to 50 percent and I acknowledged that yes I understood that procedure he is speaking of but reminded him NONE of the eggs were hatched… that’s a 108 failure rate we are speaking of! So I ask after he told me to just purchase the group chicks and he will throw in the 5 free chicks, how do I know your not just selling bad eggs especially when you see a bone success rate and offer no resolve but to purchase again from the company that just bent me over! I believe this clown is selling bad eggs so you will buy his very well pushed egg packages that are much higher in price but he will be safe to blame it on the shipping that I paid an arm and a leg for? I would be aware doing business with rip off artist such as this especially if your looking to get into the the Bresse chicken community. I didn’t expect him to replace the 13 eggs but after his explanation how he feels he is commencing on good business practices with a purchase and no liability to stop him from selling trash is exactly what is wrong with our country nowadays and I hope even if one person stops to read this and I can save them from supporting garbage like this… IM HAPPY and wished I had a review like this to base others purchasers Experiences

UPDATE: I finally got my two dozen and yes they sent two extra but out of 26 eggs only 6 hatched and out of those 6, only 4 are BCMs! 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ I’ll post pics tomorrow!

My Black Copper Marans chicks from Bresse. My question is, what do you think the grey chick is?

What's interesting is local people on FB praises them :hmm
Anyone local to the farm would be able to pick up eggs or chicks, so there would be no issues with shipping. They would probably have higher survival rates with chicks, and higher hatch rates with eggs.

Of course, it could also be that the people with good experiences happen to be collecting there (FB), and the people with less-good experiences happen to be collecting here (BYC).

The pale one?

It may be easier to tell as it grows, but either it's a "Black Copper Marans" with the wrong genes, or a wrong egg got in the carton.

If it was a wrong egg, I would guess a Bresse of some color, based on what else they have listed on their site.

If it came from Black Copper Marans parents, it's most likely either white (recessive white gene) or wheaten in color, based on what color it is and what genes are recessive to the ones Black Coppers are supposed to have.
