I found out today my cochin cockerel puts up with no mess. Him and my bantam hen went at it.They fought like two roosters and things did eventually get out of hand, the bantam hen, at the end of the day,still kept her place.

I don't put up with roosters who fights with the hens. He needs to charm them not bully them.

He is young,the only way he is ever gonna find his place and gain higher in his order is to fight, all my cockerels have done it.It is just how things work, that is regardless of age. If the hens wanna take on the roosters here, they get what they asked for, and today that is exactly what happened.

Not all like to see it but that is just what I believe.

I think as long as no serious injury is made I usually do not bother them.

I have a mottled Cochin too!

The one in the background is her half brahma daughter.

This is her as a Pullet, she had a lot less white

My boy is the other way around. Had a lot more white as a chick

Pretty, blue mottled? Dot had a white belly when she was younger too bu then grew out of it. She got more white feathers when she molted as a hen.
