I think some chickens are smarter than we give them credit for. When they find a way to cool off they want to do it.

It hasn't been too awful this year here but if I can provide them relief I will. Several days of temp+humidity making it feel over 100 is enough to look for solutions.

but at my house there would have been several 100 degree days already.... off and on it will climb up to 105-110 peak days for the rest of the summer. Thats sixty miles inland.

It's really bad here Deb. Sat right at 100 all week, today up to 104. I'm putting their sandy beach back in today. The cooler H20 system is working great. I have a fan on too. The Orpingtons have the hardest time here. We're kinda lucky that it cools off so nicely at night. Below 70, so the ground cools off. Are your girls ok?
