On December 9th, Robin laid a record egg for my flock at 84 grams. Today, Pip broke the record with an 85 gram monster. I'm betting it's a double yolker.

My little Pippy! I told her she didn't have to lay any more that are that big. Once is enough.

Well, you have egg's now.

Speaking about egg's, I need to boil up a couple dozen egg's to feed back to the flock. I'm getting to many cartons of them in the fridge and I don't want them getting too old.

I am now seeing how much these girls eat! I didn't think they were much different from the rest of my flock, but now that they're laying, they chow down. This is totally ok by me.

I was warned/told that they were big eaters.

If you ever have a skinny Biel, then check to see what's wrong with them. If you plan to eat any later, a plump chicken is better for the pot.

Well after 9.5 months (289 days to be exact but who's counting)...my sweet Bielee has bestowed us with her 1st egg!
I actually thought maybe she would never lay which woulda been a-ok too.
She is such a sweetheart...lowest on the pecking order of 6 girls. She's gentle and calm and huge!
Wanted to share a few pics of her on this special milestone.

Just got my first Bielefelder this week! She’s a bantam too!! Someone local managed to get two hatching eggs from Greenfire Farms and sold me the one that hatched. I’m very excited about her, she’s already the favorite
