Update day once more, week 6/7 of the bachelor pad. Check out these combs! Are we still thinking these are all boys? Has someone ever had a pullet with a comb this big at 6/7 weeks and it turned out to be a hen, or should I abandon all hope with these 4? Also got a few smaller ones to try my luck again, one might be a pullet but the other 2 are looking like Cockerels too... What do you guys think?

Update day! Week 7/8. No crowing has been observed yet or any aggressive behavior, all birds are co-existing happily in the Chicken Run. The 6 older birds are now transitioned to outside living and the 3 smaller ones have all day out there and then inside the brooder for the night. It's been a lot quieter in my living room recently!

I'm still posting these in case they may help someone else when determining the gender of their chicks. It really is a waiting game, but if it helps someone out, here it is!!

If anyone has comments on whether they believe any of these to be male or female, please reply, it might help some people out. I'm pretty sure only my Chipmunk chick (good job I have 2 of these) and my little Black chick are possible females now!

Update day! I've been reading online that the only correct way to judge a chicken's sex is to wait until they are around 16 weeks old. Many people have claimed to have had pullets with very large red combs/wattles, spur growth, and even some crowing before the 16 weeks only to lay an egg after this age. I'll still hold out the tiniest bit of hope for these guys, although I'm hesitant to get my hopes up too much. Apparently around this age (8/9 weeks), we're looking for saddle or hackle feathers to be coming through and being pointed, not rounded. We'll see Any comments about what sex they are are welcome as always

Well, male specific feathering (aka saddle feathers...etc) comes in at 12 weeks. Right now your pullets are chicks 7 and 5

So many combs I'm at least glad I have maybe 3 pullets out of the 9 babies I have
