My Coop
My Coop
Finally took the time out to take pictures of my set up that my husband built.

Currently we have 8 chickens. Excuse the lack of bedding I started cleaning the coop, when I decided to take all these pictures šŸ˜….

The coop has two levels, the older pullets usually roost up there. Thereā€™s room to roost and walk. The floor has a pull out tarp for easy cleaning. But you do need to get a ladder to clean it. šŸ˜…. The side window opens up to pull out the tarp and replace bedding. The string hanging down to connect to a hook, much like the coop door. The string holds the door in place while cleaning.

The coop has built to fit shutter for those side ways rain storms. Also pull down tarp curtains for the top level of the coop.

Reverse draw bridge door for easy cleaning.

The run is a bit messy today is my cleaning day.

But the run is the length of my whole back yard and then takes a turn to the garden with a door. A look but donā€™t touch approachšŸ˜‚. I do let them in if Iā€™m in the garden with them.

My chickens donā€™t spend time in the coop unless they are checking out the nesting box or turning in for the night.

Under the coop is were the chickens like to hang out if itā€™s super hot. To the right of that where the removal shudder is, we place frozen jugs of water so they have an even cooler place to chill if they choose to.

My chickens are ā€œfree rangeā€ the door of the run remains open all day unless we are going to bed or not going to be home for the day. So they mostly eat all my back yard greenery and catch bugs.

*One of the pictures shows my original birds on the roost in the coop. Out of six there were two pullets and four cockerels. They came from a farmer as a BYM. We no longer have the cockerels, we kept the two pullets and added five chicks. Chicks are now 12 weeks and we added one 14 month old hen. Who was a rescue thatā€™s why her beak is clipped she came that way.

Started out with six ended up with eight šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø Originally wanted four. Chicken math šŸ˜….
