Monday will be week 2 for my hatching eggs. Out of the dozen I started with 6 remain

Also curious where is recommended to get birds and feed from. I am likely going to have enough room here in a few months to build a coop and do some chickens. I am wanting to do Buff Orpingtons so that I have good layers with good temperament, I have two small children, and I am new to the whole chicken thing. Thanks.

GREAT IDEA!!! I was just thinking of starting one for us since a lot of us have showed up recently. I put up the flyer for our SC swap on irmo this Saturday. I put it up at the tractor supply on Bobby Jones and talked to the mgr there and he was interested in having one too. Said a few people have already asked him about it.
