The Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) is a 13-county region in the U.S. state of Georgia, and is also considered to include five to eight counties in South Carolina. The term was coined in 1950 by C.C. McCollum, the winner of a $250 contest held by The Augusta Chronicle to generate the best name for the area. Today the acronym is so commonly used that the full name is not known to all residents. The region is located on and named after the Savannah River, which forms the border between the two states. The largest cities within the CSRA are Augusta, Georgia and Aiken, South Carolina.
As of the 2010 American Community Survey from the U.S. Census Bureau, the CSRA had a total population of 709,433, and the six-county Augusta-Richmond County Metropolitan Statistical Area (at the center of the CSRA) had a population of 543,738, making it the second largest in the State of Georgia.

Chickens are allowed as long as they you keep them clean and they are not a nuisance to the neighbors.

Must be 25 feet from neighbor’s property and need approval from City Board of Appeals.

20 ft from neighbor’s property and does not create a nuisance.

Also curious where is recommended to get birds and feed from. I am likely going to have enough room here in a few months to build a coop and do some chickens. I am wanting to do Buff Orpingtons so that I have good layers with good temperament, I have two small children, and I am new to the whole chicken thing. Thanks.

I get my birds from dusty clover poultry in mccormick sc (I live in evans). I got ameraucanas, wyandottes, and easter eggers from them. I get my feed from tractor supply.

The dark ones are the AMs except for a partridge Silkie and the blue splash AM. We blended them with five silkies we hatched about the same time.

I am in the CSRA not far from Ponderosa Plantation but I do not do FB.
Where else can I get info about local meets and events?

I am in the process of property improvements to allow chickens and quail, but due to health it is slow going
and I have a LOT of predators on my property.
