Does anyone who's not in the quarantine area have any swedish, runner, or call ducklings hatching soon? I'm in Yorba Linda, which is Orange County, so not quarantine, but can't order by mail. I'm only looking for one duckling. My ESA duck passed recently and I'm looking for another. It's important to me that it's day old. I don't want it to know it's a duck. I hatched my last 2 ESA ducks myself, so that's also an option. Can anyone help?

BTW, the last I've heard on the Newcastle front is that the last case was found on June 4th, so if everything goes well, the quarantine could be lifted in October.

I’m looking for a vet for my chickens in Orange County. Where do you go?

His office said the high alert for Newcastles in Southern California is still in force. In fact, end of January the Southern California Poultry show was cancelled due to the continuing threat of Newcastles. End of February the warnings are still prevalent for 3 counties -- San Bdno, Riverside, and L.A.[/QUOTE]

I have no idea what vets in Orange County will see chickens as most dog/cat vets will not accept birds or exotics and regular avian vets are very expensive. It's a long journey from Orange County to see my dog/cat/bird/exotics veterinarian but it all depends on what part of OC you reside in.

When my vet is on vacation I lined up another vet who will see birds but I only used him once -- he was expensive and wanted to put my sick dying chicken through blood tests, lab work, etc, when all I wanted was a diagnosis and possibly euthanize her. My regular vet sees all kinds of birds and animals -- even Ranger Station injured or sick wild animals. I have been fortunate in that my vet once worked in the poultry industry and has been very good at diagnosing my chickens with quick oral and orifice checks of my hens and he hasn't been wrong with diagnoses yet. I once recommended him to a Westside L.A. owner who drove miles with her hen to see my vet and couldn't be happier with him. Don't get me wrong -- dog/cat vets are wonderful but very few will accept birds/chickens.

My vet is Dr. Zabihi (Dr. Z) at the Duarte-Azusa Animal Hospital on Huntington Drive and Las Lomas Drive in Duarte, CA. Like I said -- he's a far distance to travel but he DOES see poultry -- we often see turtles, guinea pigs, rabbits, etc in his waiting room. He has a Starling he rescued and had to amputate its damaged wing and he keeps it in his office. Rangers have brought him injured fox, deer, etc -- I don't think there's ANY animal he turns away!!!!

Your Silkies are Ador-a-ble!!! My hens are pretty quiet but unfortunately the roos are noisy little buggers and we had to give our cockerel back to the breeder. Hope they get a lovely new home! They are such wonderful birds!

I'm having an opposum issue. What do you do or have done to get rid of them. All our food is in containers or inside a locked coop and nothing is left out.
If I trap what do I do with the opposum. Everytime I google what to do with the opposum I just get loads of pest removal advertisement
