Can i adopt a silkie rooster and will he mate my standard hens?

I am wanting to adopt a silkie rooster i found on craigslist in my area. He will be my first and only rooster. I have a new hampshire red, 3 black australorps, and a wheaten old english game fowl. (all hens). Will the silkie rooster sucessfully mate with my hens?
I have read that they have problems.

Yes, when I had bantam roos, they would try to mate standards but they have a hard time grabbing on and getting their cloacas close enough to the hens'. You will have great difficulty getting fertilized eggs from him. One of two meanings for "covering a hen" They really do have to be big enough to do that.
