Just trying to solve a mystery with an outbreak or Corzya in my flock. No birds have been introduced to the flock in quite some time. The sickness came on fairly quickly the last couple of weeks. There are sparrows that often drink from their water and sometimes get in their food. Can wild birds like sparrows and doves spread Coryza to chickens?

All my online research has not yielded any answers. Hopefully someone here might know.

I sat next to a poultry biologist on a flight a few weeks back. She and I talked chicken diseases for 4 hours. Wild birds cannot spread the disease from an internal source, so they cannot have an illness and spread it to poultry. Not any of the common virus ones anyway (ILT or Coryza). However, if they step in something effected, and then spread it via contact, its possible. Same with you, if you visit a neighboring flock.

Interesting. Thanks for the info.

I'm at a loss... I guess I won't be finding any answers for my situation. Just put it behind me and move on...
