Chick Ate My Earring!! Really!!!

OK, I KNOW IS SOUNDS CRAZY, BUT I WAS HOLDING ONE OF MY 3 WEEK OLD BABIES AND IT WAS MAKING THE CUTEST LITTLE SOUNDS, SO I HELD IT UP TO MY EAR, AND ***CHOMP***...THERE WENT MY EARRING!! IT WAS A 14 CARAT GOLD BALL EARRING WITH A POST ON IT, FOR PIERCED EARS, AND I AM WORRIED THAT THE POST WILL PUNCTURE ITS CROP OR SOMETHING!! HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS HAPPEN OR HAVE ANY ADVICE?

OK, I'll be serious. This gets posted occasionally. You will probably not see the earring again, unless you have to butcher the chicken to get it back. It will probably get chewed up in the gizzard. Even if it passes it will be damaged. In the previous threads about this, I have not seen it posted where the chicken was hurt.
