I am glad to see I am not the only one with a chicken addiction.
I dream about chickens, I have hatchery catalogs and chicken books next to my bed.
It started in March with 7 E.E. pullets (which I kept 6 and are laying nicely), then I ordered 50 more chicks (Black Australorps, N.H. Reds and the famous 99 cent bantam special from Ideal). Now these guys are getting old enough to tell apart and I have started selling them locally for $5 a chick! I have kept the nicest ones and the bantam hens. SO of course I need more!
I just ordered (less than 20 minutes ago) Ideal Poultry's SURPRISE SPECIAL PULLETS 25 pullets, delivered for only $45! SO here again, if I wait until they are about a month old, then I can pick out my favorites and sell the rest! They will be shipped on Dec. 1st!
I spend hours in the insulated and heated "chicken room" in the garage watching the babies. The only time I go to town is to buy food, bedding or treats for them. I forget to eat, because I am so busy watching them!
Here I sit at 9:30 at night, eyes gleaming, posting on a forum admitting a chicken addition!

Muggs, you really need to build a bator like we have. I think you would have a much better hatch rate. We have about 85-95% hatch rate with ours.
Christine...post a pic of your incubator. It's worth drooling over. Craig will find this on his to-do list before long! (Ahem...once I get those plans from you!
)
Here ya go! Poor Craig, he's in for it now!
(Please don't mind my reflection in the door)
You can even see a few babies down there running around on the bottom shelf, one up from the floor of the bator!
I just love that I'm not alone (there's a place for us!
). We had great weather today, so I put my lawn chair in the middle of the run and just let the chickens entertain me for a good hour! The only problem is we live on a main road and our backyard is all exposed..."non-chicken owners" must think I'm crazy!
Keep your stories coming. I love talking with my chicken friends. Let's face it...most of my facebook friends just don't get it!

You guys should consider building a few and selling them...hint hint! I would like one the size of a wine refrigerator...I see them come up on craig's list every now and then. I love the glass door, lots of surface area for my nose and hand prints. I would be first on your list!

Exactly Karen. Wine fridge would be a perfect size!
Separate thing...are you still looking for a Lav Ameraucana roo? I have one from John Blehm I am willing to part with. He's long and leggy!

None of my ladies are laying so I not going to worry about it until at least the first of the year......unless you talk me into it
Alright I can at least look at a picture, it might sway my decision to wait.
