My female hadnt lay any eggs yet but she is building a nest what does that mean

Are you sure she is actually nest building not dust bathing? Coturnix are noted for not building nests and just laying their eggs as they go about their enclosures. They do however love to dust bathe and it might look like nest building.

Building nests has nothing to do with egg laying. Zayd I answer this question for you every week. Your hen will lay when she is ready to lay.

no actually she had built a nest and they are mating and she sleep in sometimes but i have one female every male i have put with her she tried to kill them if i put alone without mating will she lay eggs?

Yeah she will lay without a mate. If you are moving things around adding birds and taking them out, that will stress her out and keep her from laying. Don't move her around or add other birds until she starts laying.

It may hatch in an incubator, but most likely not a brooder.
