Sharing a few of our current beauties--show potentials and breeders. We have call ducks in a rainbow of colors, plus a few other breeds as well. Eventually, they will all be in their striking nuptial plumage. With all this hot weather, several are taking their sweet time molting.

A little something for anyone. They are like potato chips, can't have just one. LOL

, but if you got them from hatching eggs, or ducklings, I might get some in the spring...

Where did you get those Butterscotch?!

I don't think buy them just now,

, but if you got them from hatching eggs, or ducklings, I might get some in the spring...

We've had butterscotch for many years. Here is a pic of a few of them from about 20 years ago. Sorry the picture quality isn't that good but that was back when we had a cheap camera and film that had to go to developer.

The pics do not do the birds justice. Digital cameras are so much better for taking pics of animals. One instantly know if the pics are any good







But this summer we did purchase a flock from one of the top breeders of butterscotch. All our birds were purchased as juvies-adults, as most show breeders do not sell eggs nor hatchlings. Good quality call ducks can be challenging and expensive to hatch, even under ideal circumstances. Add in shipping/handling, x-rays, temperature variations, and etc, sometimes I'm amazed that hatching eggs ever hatch.

Thank you for appreciating our beloved birds. They are great hobby for kids and relaxing from our stressful careers.

We usually sell birds in the fall. If they are wintered the cost goes up, due to all the man hours tending to them thru those months. It's not uncommon for some of our birds to start laying in January or February. Sorry, we do not usually offer hatching eggs or ducklings, as we strive with each generation to improve the breed. Those hatchlings could be the best babies we have that year, but we wouldn't know it, if we sold them and shipped them.
