Deterring Hawk?

All hawks and owls are federally protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (16 USC, 703-711). These laws strictly prohibit the capture, killing, or possession of hawks or owls without special permit. No permits are required to scare depredating migratory birds except for endangered or threatened species

Thank you for the reply! I'm glad I asked before doing something illegal since we have recently seen two hawks hanging out around our chickens.

There are times i feel like it... but no, i can't shoot it. I thought at first to get a high powered sprayer hooked to my hose, but it's smart and takes off when it sees me. It won't get another one of my chicks... but boy they don't give up :)

I'm kind of hoping they will start taking the squirrels that have decided that the scratch, BOSS and deer corn that I buy is for them instead of the animals that I raise.
