I've used oat screenings to stretch my chicken BEDDING, not my chicken feed. I'm sure that the chickens find something edible in it, but most of the screenings are oat hulls and stuff with nearly zero feed value (as well as an assortment of weed seeds!). We also use it as a feed replacement for our doe goats when trying to wean the the kids and we want the does to have very few calories, but we still want them to feel full.
