Feed Conspiracy

I use the dreaded $30/ bag Purina Layena and get excellent results, really thick shells, wonderful plumage on my girls, very short molting period, and the eggs speak for themselves as they are almost a yellow-orange yolk and crystal clear album. It is their second year and the eggs are still increasing in size. I guess what I'm trying to say is the Purina is worth it because it makes a big difference, so you get what you pay for. :)

With all the clouds, fog, and rain we are getting, they slow down on laying but pick right up a few days after it dries out and gets warmer. Then the next system blows in for a week and they slow down again. Here in southern California we are getting an unusually cold and heavy winter, which only happens about every 25 years or so, but it is well needed and welcome. If I get fewer eggs, so be it, that is mother nature's way.
