Feeding fish to the hens, rambling observations unless the topic drifts

Interestingly enough, today i cracked an egg that was laid during or right after the 4 days in a row of small amounts of fresh fish egg & sardines for the 5 hens; i swear I smelled a faint wiff of fish during the cracking of the egg. It was so brief and I couldnt locate it again.....egg was delicious either way

This is fascinating to me, this fishiness transferring through to the egg. I used to throw spent capsules of fish oil out onto the mulch (along with the produce waste) for the chickens to pick through and I got the same report from a friend: "Have your chickens eaten any fish?"

Hi all, my chickens go absolutely mental for dried krill and salmon, especially my only standard size hen, who is in a heavy moult right now. They've eaten fish a couple of times a week for a year and there's definitely no fishy taste or odour in the eggs.
