My Rhode Island Reds are 23 weeks old now, and I was beginning to wonder when I would finally start seeing some eggs. I go out this morning to replenish their food and water and, low and behold, I see our first egg! I knew it would be any time now since I had one who was squatting when I would pet her. As I was taking a picture of it and texting it to my wife, another went in the coop nesting box and laid another! I know this is no big deal for veteran chicken owners, but as a first timer I am pretty darn excited! Just had to share.

hey that is awesome, I know the feeling! I am new to chickens myself and it is fun to see all of one's hard work finally pay off. Keep them happy, healthy and warm and they seem to do well. Congratulations!

Those first time eggs are always a big deal...congratulations!
