I want to start my small flock this spring . I have been trying to find out whether chickens are legally allowed in my area , I know people have them as I often hear a rooster in the mornings . I can not find any information about chickens in Frederick county only Frederick city . I am in New Windsor , Frederick county .

Is anyone local in Frederick county who knows or can point me in the right direction ?

Just spoke with animal control and they were very helpful and friendly. they actually encouraged me to get the chickens .

They said the info needed is under 1-19-8.240 Accessory use on residential property . And people need to speak with someone in zoning . At least I now have the actual ordinance to go by .

Do you have more than three acres? Did they say anything about roosters?
