The coop was here when I bought the property. I haven't made many changes yet beyond making sure predators couldn't get in and getting more light in there.
The coop is a metal building, the roof open on both ends in the direction of the prevailing winds. And it is always windy. Essentially they were getting whatever "wind chill" we got outside, and none are older than 16 weeks. This is brand new to them and me. Insulation will have to wait, but I put some in the obvious gaps I could reach when they had a layer of snow in their coop.
Other changes are planned, but at least for the moment they're not sitting in a 30mph "draft."
