Full circle in only 135 days

A little bantam egg from our misfit hen Elkie was hatched on April 1. On Wednesday August 14 the hen who hatched from that egg laid her first green egg a mere 135 days from being an egg herself.

The little brown chick in the third photo down of the three little chicks has begun laying also. We just found 7 of her eggs stashed up in our barn. She started at 132 days. Yikes! (The middle chick is a rooster)
