Funky 16 - Progressing Post

Looks like a cockerel to me.
Watch the breast area when it starts feathering in in a week or so.
Females will be reddish while males will be mostly black.
That's a for sure tale.
Okay, thanks. I was worried about accidentally getting another cockerel. I’ve only had/have white leghorns and all 6 roosters ended up being raging assholes; all hatchery stock. The hens are nice, but one can be a bit mean when food is involved. So I’m not too fond of leghorn roosters right now and I’m not very hopeful Iggy will be nice.

I never noticed Uno’s face was like this until now

Week 3 Update

Drago II
- Poor Drago is getting chased around and harassed by Iggy. He doesn’t really fightback, either.

Uno - It seems like I’m just cursed with bad luck when it comes to partridge cochins. Poor baby, I hope it doesn’t get any worse. I don’t think it’s cross beak because they still line up with each other, but could it turn into it?? Do you think it’ll straighten

Pop Fart - I have high hopes that they are a female, but it’s still pretty early. I’m just going by the feathering despite the questionable accuracy

Iggy - Oh, Iggy….. don’t turn into a dickhead, that’s all I have to say. I never had any luck with leghorn roosters from a hatchery. I think I hear him tidbitting in the brooder as I type this. He’s also harassing Drago, the only cockerel that’s supposed to be in this bunch:barnie

@The Moonshiner its only been 5ish days, but here he is again

Sorry for not updating anymore, I’ve been busy/uninterested in doing a lot of stuff lately. The babies are doing okay, though, and I plan on moving them out to the coop soon.

Here’s some quick pictures I got of them this morning.

They’re making their transition to the outside. I had a hen hatch 5 chicks a couple of weeks prior to picking up the funky 16, so I put them in with the 16 so they can get used to each other and the older chicks can show them the ropes.

Everyone is already fully outside now and transitioned into the flock, because my original group is so used to chicks and new chickens coming into the flock that they really don’t care.

What happened to your Fav Samon Faverolle? I’m so sorry about that. Also, I love your mix of chickens!
Are you talking about the first Drago? Or are you talking about my 22 week old faverolles pullets? I’m going to assume the first Drago. I had a makeshift roost in their brooder that wasn’t properly secured and I don’t know if he was on it when it fell or it fell on him, but he ended up breaking his neck. He was still alive when I found him but there was nothing that could be done for him and he died not long after; poor baby was only 8 weeks old at the time.

But, anyways, I like to have a mix. I don’t like having more than two of the same kind.
